Extended plays

With grunge revolution in full swing, Al set to work on his first major reinvention, skill which would be necessary if he was to continue mocking popular music for extended period of time. This album is fun and well perform, though it is bit light in hits department. Of course, smell like Nirvana, is iconic, as Yankovic shows ability to make light of even most dark and serious base material, but aside from that, there is little of note. Polka Your Eyes, is certainly worth listening to if fan of Als Polka work, and I Cant Watch This, may be his most underrated track of all time, but overall, it is goofy listening with few memorable tracks. Weird Als best selling album all time, Alapalooza is his only release to be certified double platinum. Album Itself Is Fun, If Bit Light On Hits. At this time, radio was mostly dominated by height of grunge movement, which had filled his last project, and new wave of gangster rap, which Al wouldnt get grasp of for few more years. As such, album is bit of transitional piece. By way of important tracks, opener, Jurassic Park, is definitely worth listen, and was most successful pre-album single. Bedrock Anthem, is promising, though it doesnt quite deliver its goals. Achy Breaky Song, is probably highlight of album, though verses are bit repetitive. Album Is Certainly Worth Listening To For Hardcore Fans, But For His Best Selling Album Of All Time, It Is Less Than Impressive. After six year absence, longest of his career, Weird Al returned with his take on popular music landscape which has changed quite bit since his last release. Keeping that in mind, he does quite job. His song choices are excellent, aside from Doors parody, and hold up well now almost decade later. My only complaint is source of comedy, where his early work finds genuine laughs, records in twilight of of his career find its comedy through novelty of what he does Perform this Way, is excellent opener and TMZ is one of his best modern tracks. Polka Face, isnt one of best Polka tracks, but simply must be admired for effectiveness of pun. Party In CIA, Is Quite Enjoyable, As Is Another Tattoo. Even Whatever You Like, is worth listen, though Rucka Rucka Alis parody of same song is quite bit better. Overall, it album With few fun tracks, but nothing living to his early work. Like many revolutionary artists, Weird Als self-title debut was massive success. He had taken what were essentially goofy party tricks and turned them into gold certify album. Als vocal performance on this record is characteristically manic, and song selection plays his strengths well.

Since his first-aired comedy song in 1976, he has sold more than 12 million albums, recorded more than 150 parody and original songs, and has performed than 1 000 live shows. Weird Al's first top ten album and single were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career. His latest album, Mandatory Fun, became his number-one album on its debut week. Weird Al's success comes in part from his effective use of videos to further parody popular culture, song's original artist, and original music videos themselves, scene-for-scene in some cases. With decline of music television and onset of social media, Weird Al uses YouTube and other video sites to publish his videos; this strategy proved integral, helping to boost sales of his later albums, including Mandatory Fun. Weird Al has stated that he may forgo traditional albums in favor of timely releases of singles and EPs following this success. In addition to recording his albums, Weird Al writes and stars in films UHF and Weird Al Show.
