Cue up Steely Dan because Oh, Hello is moving on down from Broadway to Podcasts, baby. On April 3rd, which is tomorrow, John Mulaney and Nick Kroll will release the first episode of Oh, Hello: Pdcast, because what we all need right now is to be equal parts tickled and terrorized by Gil Faizon and George. Geegland. For those of you who haven't watched their segments on Kroll Show or seen their superb Broadway Show on Netflix, Gil and George are a couple of ornery, tuna-lovin New Yorkers who could never understand the concept of social distancing because they are human embodiment of coughing in strangers ' mouth. John Mulaney tweet link to Pdcast's Apple Podcasts page, which already has a perfectly wacky description of what to expect: there is also a one-minute trailer in which Sarah Koenig-style audio producer read Xerox copy of a fax sent to her by Gil and George:

Who Stopped By Weekend Update?

John Mulaney host Saturday Night Live for the fourth time on Halloween. Former SNL writer joke about binge-watching Governor Andrew Cuomos press conferences during quarantine. On Nov. 3 there will be an elderly man contest, Mulaney said of the upcoming presidential election. There two elderly men, and youre supposed to choose your favorite elderly men. You can put it in the mail, or you can go and write down which elderly man you like and then add them all up, and then we might have the same elderly man or we might have a new elderly man. He continue, but just rest assure, No matter what happen, nothing much will change in the United States. The rich will continue to prosper while the poor languish, families will be upended by mental illness and drug addiction, Jane Lynch will continue to book lots of projects, and when she does shell deliver, she is so good at being on TV. The Episode features several Halloween-themed sketches, including a spoof of a PBS special hosted by Kenan Thompson in which Kate McKinnon and Mulaney star in Alfred Hitchcoks Birds. Birds, they just birds men to death, McKinnon exclaim. In parody of Sleepy Hollow, Mulaney plays Ichabod Crane. Beck Bennett played a headless horseman, and Mulaneys Ichabod asked if he use his detached head to pleasure himself. The Episode also features a lot of election-theme material. Musical digital sketch called strollin To Polls riffs on voter suppression. Another digital sketch shows New Yorkers in masks talking about being strong through pandemic with McKinnon playing an eccentric older woman. The musical sketch featuring Times Square gift shop and Times Square performers riffed on previous Mulaney-starring musical sketches Diner Lobster and Airport Sushi. Maya Rudolph, who appears in cold open, also appears in the sketch as the Statue of Liberty performer. The sketch ends with a song about election. Another sketch provides a sequel to a previous Mulaney skit about a guy getting memed by his nephew at his own company.

Who Was The Episodes MVP?

You guys are both artists. Gil, you are an actor. George, youre writer. What creative process is difference when creating a podcast? George: Well, with Pdcast, you get headphones and you get larger microphones than If youre picturing Bb Barker microphone, you have to picture a larger microphone. You normally bring guest in and You kind of pre-apologize for Pdcast, and then You record Pdcast, and at the end, You all take your headphones off and You scratch your ears, because theyre little sweaty and a little itchy. And then you go, that was Great!

Best/Worst Sketch Of The Night

That is what Mulaney said during his opening monologue, to explain why anyone watching at home may not recognize him. It been running thread throughout each of his hosting stints, as in his first time when he stressed hes not-list star, yet hes in this position. As someone who was never a performer on SNL save for a few Weekend Update appearances and was simply a writer for the show, it seems weird. But then Mulaney gets in the hosting position, and while the role of sitcom star may not have worked out for him, hes proven both here and as stand-Up that he knows how to perform for a live audience. That is also on top of proving he knows how to write funny sketch. Combine those strengths, and you have ultimate-grade episode of SNL. Somehow failed to combine those strengths, particularly in writing end, which only hurts the performing end and you get this episode of SNL. But Mulaney's monologue is great, as it is all him. Plus, as always, allowing stand-Up to do stand-Up set for their monologue works very well! Yes, 92 Bulls are better than Founding Fathers, and yes, it is weird that no Baby Boomer dads have friends. Like other classic film-base sketches, the inspiration for this Sound of Music: Rolf and Liesl sketch seems to have been the whole boy-ish look of 37-year-old Mulaney. So that turned Nazi Rolf into a 33-year-old scrub. You know, on top of the Nazi thing. Honestly, its strange sketch about statutory, which then opens up another can of worms about Marias age, as she sings I am old enough, but it is still kind of dicey to close out sketch. Strong and Mulaney make it work, as do McKinnon and Beck Bennett as they enter things. But still strange. Kyles Transformation is a Kyle Mooney sketch that surprisingly doesnt have Mulaney play his dad, so it couldve go anywhere. And where it went was somewhere with a lot of uncanny-valley prosthetics and Justin Theroux, basically, place where no one but Mooney couldve expect it to go. More expect was the moment when Papa Roachs Last Resort play, as that should be expected in every Mooney pre-tape sketch.

The Best

First it was Les Miserables-inspire Diner Lobster. Then it was Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory-base bodega Bathroom. And now its Airport Sushi, in all of its Phantom of Opera meets West Side Story meets Annie meets Wicked meets Little Shop of Horrors meets Talking Heads glory. With this, trilogy is complete, because SNL definitely know how to provide too many good thing. This is the best way to go out with this gimmick, as the highlight of the episode is not exactly full of highlights.
