Chromatin describes a blend of DNA and proteins that develop the chromosomes found in the cells of human beings and other higher microorganisms. The total DNA in the cell has to do with 5 to 6 feet long which needs to fit inside the center of a cell in an orderly fashion. DNA particles first twist around the histone proteins forming grains on string structure called nucleosomes. Chromatin fibers can unwind for DNA replication and transcription.
