On March 30, Rochester, New York man named Joe Prude called 911 out of concern for his brother, Daniel, who was behaving erratically. When police arrive, Daniel Prude was naked in the street, but he complied when officers told him to sit down and allow himself to be handcuffed without resisting. Video shows officers placing spit bag on Prude head mask design to keep detainees ' saliva off of officers when they become agitate again, shouting and spitting. The Video Go on to show officers shoving Prude facedown on the pavement, telling him to calm down. Clearly distraught, Prude shouts that theyre trying to kill him and begs them for their gun. Officers held Prude face to the ground for two minutes before they noted that he was no longer moving. Hood and handcuffs are removed as officers attempt to perform CPR before hes loaded into an ambulance and taken to hospital, where he was put on life Support for a week before being pronounced dead. The Medical examiner ruled his death homicide caused by complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint. The Report also lists excited delirium and acute intoxication by phencyclidine, or PCP, as complicating factors. Daniel Prude was visiting his brother from Chicago, where he live. He had been taken into custody earlier that evening for suicidal thoughts but was cleared for release after a few hours. Joe Prude calls police again after his brother leaves house, leading to a confrontation that ends with Daniel's death. The incident was strikingly similar to the death of George Floyd, another unarmed Black man who was suffocated by Police. Prude death predates Floyds by a few weeks, but the family do not release the video until Wednesday. The video is below, but be warn, it contains images that are disturbing. I place phone call to my brother to get help. Not for my brother To Get lynch, Joe Prude said at a news conference. How do you see him and not directly say, man is defenseless, buck naked on the ground. Hes cuffed up already. Come on. How many more brothers gotta die for society to understand that this needs to stop? Police have shown the US over and over again that they are not equipped to handle individuals with mental health concerns. These officers are trained to kill, and not to deescalate. These officers are trained to ridicule, instead of supporting Mr. Daniel Prude, Ashley Gantt of Free People ROC said at a news conference with the Prude family. Black live Matter demonstrations in Rochester lasted long into the night, with reports of police pepper-spraying and detaining protestors. Prude aunt Letoria Moore told AP that Daniel, known to his family as Rell, was a father of five who worked warehouse job in Chicago and had been making frequent trips to visit his Rochester family in recent years following the death of his mother and another brother.

The importance of AEDs

ROC Epistry Cardiac Arrest registry is a prospective, multicenter, multiregional, population-base international cohort study of nontramatic OHCA. We report on patients treated by 1 or more of 215 ROC EMS agencies in 7 US sites and 3 Canadian sites between December 1 2005, and April 30 2007. One ROC site, San Diego, did not participate and was omit from this analysis. ROC sites obtain Institutional Review Board approval to conduct this research with waiver of write consent under minimal risk criteria. The ROC Epistry Cardiac Arrest registry was approved by the Institutional Review Board of University of Washington, 100 US Institutional Review boards, and 34 Canadian research ethics boards. Current studies include persons with nontraumatic OHCA regardless of cause that occur before EMS arrival who receive attempts at external Defibrillation or chest compressions by organized EMS personnel. We exclude both EMS-witness arrests because AED would not apply before EMS arrival in this group and arrests that occur in healthcare facilities, because the intent in the current study was to evaluate whether randomized trial results from PAD trial would translate broadly to a heterogeneous set of communities. We also exclude persons if resuscitation was not attempt, for example, because the person had do not resuscitate status, terminal illness, or evidence of prolonged death such as rigor mortis. Finally, we exclude those subjects enrol in the concurrent ROC CPR Feedback trial because those results have not yet been reported and more recent large scale trials. Details of data definitions, data collection, and quality assessment methods have been published previously. Information about each OHCA was collected using a uniform set of data definitions developed by ROC investigators and derived from Utstein data elements. Data elements include information about patient demographics, arrest circumstances, characteristics of care, and survival status. AED application before EMS arrival was defined as AED application by a person outside EMS, whereas AED shock defines subgroup in which AED was applied before EMS arrival and delivers shock. Shockable first rhythm was defined as either shock on application of AED by bystander before EMS arrival or first rhythm of VF / VT recorded by EMS. EMS response time was defined as time from 911 call received at EMS dispatch to first EMS vehicle arrival at scene. Public locations was defined as street or highway, public building, place of recreation, industrial place, or other public property. Non-Public location was defined to include home residence, farm or ranch, residential institution, or other private property. Health care facilities, which include hospitals, medical clinics, and other healthcare institutions, but do not include nursing homes, were excluded from this analysis. The primary outcome was Survival to Hospital discharge as determined from available records. Statistical analyses were conducted using R software, version 2. 11. All tests were 2-side with a significance level of 0. 05. Analyses determine the association between Survival and AED application before EMS arrival.
