Grantees: Secretariat of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States. Recipient Countries: St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago and Suriname Objective: Strengthen the juvenile justice system throughout the Eastern Caribbean. The program will include: Strengthening lawful and governing frameworks, Modernization methods to juvenile justice including reforms to diversion, detention and rehab processes, Building ability in the system including training of essential personnel and stipulation of proper tools to guarantee a functional system, Building public understanding and civil society advocacy for improved juvenile justice systems, and Providing assistance to resolve deficiencies in the juvenile justice sector thereby taking the countries closer to fulfilling international standards. Program Status: The OECS Secretariat has commenced mobilization of tasks in each of the six nations and will carry out inter-ministry conferences in each nation over the following three months that will lead to interpretation of program initiatives to be moneyed under the program.
