'Lev' son Fred Leverett Baldwin and Louise Rathgeber was born on 12 June 1919 in Enderlin,. The 1925 Census for North Dakota indicates that Fred and Louise were still living in Enderlin with Leverett and his siblings Olive Belle, Kenneth and Walter. By 1930, family had moved from North Dakota to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and two more children were add, Mark James and Shirley. Fred was working in construction. By 1940, Lev had one more sibling, Ben. Lev had to take on responsibilities as 'man' of the family due to his father's sudden death in 1935. The 1940 Census shows Lev was working for the government in forestry, one of the Depression era programs established by the New Deal. Lev registered for draft in 1941; however, he was listed as 4F due to right ear deafness. He married Carolyn May George on 24 June 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they had several children. Lev died on 11 January 1982 of cancer at Joseph's Hospital Hospice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His cremains were buried in Langlade County, Wisconsin. Personal comments: Lev was the eldest of 7 children. It was necessary for him to quit high school in 1935 after his father died in order to help with family income. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps for several years during the Great Depression. Lev was a self-taught carpenter, electrician and plumber. History: Leverett S. Baldwin

It is unclear how early Baldwin started out in the brewing business, but his earliest listing in 1849 in Saco when he was approximately thirty-three years old. He runs a confectionery business where he also brews small beer. In 1850, his wife Aseneth Baldwin gave birth to their daughter, Anna Baldwin. Baldwin later moved to Biddeford and operated out of 38 Elm as a small beer manufacturer in 1860. He moved his operation to the rear of 60 Elm in 1868 and continued brewing till his death in 1870 or 1871. Anna worked in a cotton mill around the time of her father's death.
