Leviathan is the classification given to extremely large creatures of the Subnautica universe. Although the wording of Reaper Leviathan's databank entry would seem to imply that Leviathan classification is exclusive to predatory life forms, this is not the case; any fauna species of suitable size can be classified as Leviathan. Although the term Leviathan is used to refer to aquatic creatures in the real world, there is no confirmation on whether or not the Leviathan classification is restricted to aquatic fauna in the Subnautica universe, or is simply a term used for any species of sufficient size.
Some fauna on Earth may fit in categorization of Leviathans, such as whale shark, as well as large whales, including humpback whale and blue whale. Sea Emperor Leviathan is suggested to be the largest identified species in the Subnautica universe, at around 160-200 meters in length. Despite this, it is massively out-size by Gargantuan Fossil which would measure well in excess of one kilometer at completion. Due to the massive size disparity between the largest confirmed Leviathan and Gargantuan, as well as the lack of any mention in databank entry, it is unknown whether or not Gargantuan will be given classification of Leviathan, or perhaps new classification for creature of such an extreme size that it exceeds size of Leviathan.
This is one for arachnophobe readers, as the long slender legs of Sea Treader are very much reminiscent of arachnids of our world. Thankfully, these Subnautica creatures are not as dangerous as they look and will only attack in self-defense. That should not take away from the atmosphere that they create, however. Slowly making their way across the ocean floor like some sort of oceanic AT-AT walker, accompanied by the eerie, low-frequency sound they produce. The Treader has two massive hine legs and one in front, which is actually its head and also acts as a weapon of attack, so stay clear of it! If you are to go out and search vast lands of game looking for these blue and orange Subnautica creatures, your best bet is to look around Grand Reef and Sea Treaders Path! As long as you dont get too close and respect the animals ' space, they will respect you and refrain from attacking you, thus allowing for some awe-inspiring time in water!

This is only being on this list that is not necessarily alive, as it is bio-mechanical life form instead. It was created by the Precursor race and can create portals that allow it to teleport itself and other fauna effortlessly. These eerie looking Subnautica creatures were created with a very specific purpose in mind-to hunt down any life form that is infected with Kharaa Bacterium! If your infection level is below 0. 3, worry not, Warper is not going to attack you. However, once you cross that line of 0. 3, hunting is relentless, and you would be lucky to run away with your life! They can be found pretty much everywhere on the map, as long as the area is rather deep. If you want to avoid it at any cost, try your best to stay closer to the surface!

Sea Dragons are amongst largest Subnautica creatures and also among the most aggressive! In fact, all creatures to follow in this list are not only scary looking but dangerous and aggressive as well. If there is one thing that you might be glad to hear about Sea Dragon Leviathans is that theyre pretty scarce and are only found in areas of fire and inactive lava zones. This makes it easy to predict whether or not one of these beasts may be around. As you would expect from massive Dragons living in hellishly hot areas, these Subnautica creatures spit fire themselves and are extremely dangerous, relentless hunters! To top it off, they are the most aggressive creatures in the whole game, so good luck getting rid of this giant!

It is the second largest aggressive creature of Subnautica and the third largest creature in the game. Six Ghost Leviathans Spawn on the map: three juveniles in Lose River, two adults in Grand Reef, and one adult in the Northern Blood Kelp Zone. If player enters Crater Edge, single Adult Ghost Leviathan spawns If the player stays in Crater Edge for thirty seconds, second Ghost Leviathan will spawn. If the player stays in the area for another thirty second, third and final Ghost Leviathan spawns They will all pursue player until the player returns to the playable area, upon which they will all retreat. The Giant Cove Tree is the nesting ground of this Leviathan species, with its massive glowing bulbs being their eggs which are blue and purple. According to PDA scan entries of Cove Tree, eggs were laid there when the tree was small, and branches have grown around eggs to protect them until conditions are right to hatch. Ghost Leviathans' life cycle begins in Lose River, as juveniles. As Leviathans mature and become too large for their home, they migrate to open, surface world biomes such as Grand Reef and Blood Kelp Zone, until eventually migrating to Crater Edge, continuing to grow and roam freely in open water. Despite being much smaller than Sea Emperor Leviathan, Ghost Leviathan's eggs can be far larger, capable of growing to sizes far too large for creature to lay, suggesting eggs can grow in size after being laid Since Leviathans in Crater's Edge are able to survive there, it can be assumed that Ghost Leviathans can feed off of microscopic organisms.
