Somatic Cells

Somatic cells are the cells in the body besides sperm and egg cells. In humans, somatic cells are diploid, implying they have 2 collections of chromosomes, one inherited from each parent. DNA mutations in somatic cells can influence a specific, but they can not be handed down to their spawn. All microorganisms that are active are constructed from several cells that are called somatic cells.
