Pick up HDHomeRun and antenna just to be able to watch the Olympics to find out this is the case Plex needs to resolve this issue or make it large bullet point at beginning of Plex DVR page stating that Streaming is No go Streaming to Chromecast and what ever other devices are not support. Now I am left with HDHomeRun that doesnt meet my family's needs and I may still need to spend more money on Streaming TV Sub. Disappointed. I could cast Live TV from after starting channel stream from Plex web app-and it work. 've changed some settings and now video is garble and pushed up to the top of the screen when casting. I using HDHomeRun EXTEND so maybe it has something to do with building in H264 encoding. EDIT: setting transcoder quality to high quality fix it. EDIT 2: Now aspect ratio is off in web player, but channels look good on Chromecast. EDIT 3: even while Live channel stream is working 100 % on Chromecast and listed as Playing Plex in Google Home app, Plexs Now Playing tab doesnt show stream same as above, I just start watching TV on web app and after it start Playing, I could click cast button in chrome and pop up say would you like to continue playback on Chromecast? Yes / No. Clicking yes starts a stream on TV with the name Live Session garble letters and numbers. The quality looks great. But, only playback controls that work are play / pause and mute. Nothing shows up in the activity menu, but the transcoder is running in the background. It better than nothing, wish it was supported by Android app. I decided to try Plex premium since it advertise support for Live TV and DVR, plus Chromecast and Roku support. I cant say how deceptive this is. So, from Roku app, you can watch Live TV and record TV, but you ca record TV shows. From Android app you can play Live TV and record TV, but you ca play Live TV on your Chromecast. So, as a DVR for your TV, Plex is a poor option. Frankly, strategy seems disjoint, and misses the primary use case entirely-as Live TV DVR to use from your TV!
