The former X Factor finalist was caught shoplifting and told a shop assistant to 'go back to Africa' when she was confront, court heard. Rachel Hylton, who reached the final six in 2008, grabbed a man's neck and poked another worker in the face before throwing a shopping basket. A 37-year-old plead guilty to stealing £26 worth of food at Croydon Magistrates Court today. She also plead guilty to assaulting Peter Njoku, using racially aggravated threatening behaviour and assaulting Abigail Kelly. Prosecutor Rahab Njoroge told the court that Mr Njoku had spotcheck Rachel putting items into her bag without paying and confronted her. He say: With the help of a colleague, they brought the defendant back into the shop and the defendant was very aggressive. She grabbed the bag she was carrying and there was struggle and the defendant was shouting: 'He's f * ing African. You f * ing black man. Go back to Africa. ' She threw a shopping basket towards Mr. Njoku and he managed to move away from it and it did not hit him. She was still shouting at Mr. Njoku and she grabbed hold of his neck and was removed by other members of staff. She continued to be abusive and eventually her shopping bag was removed from her and items recover. Rachel then poked Ms Kelly in the face when she wanted to get her bag back, court heard. Mr Njoroge add: she admitted shoplifting and throwing basket, but denied having her hands around Mr. Njokus's neck. Rachel was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment in June, 2017 for possessing a knife. District Judge Susan Holdman deferred her sentence until January 31 because she's been offered 15 weeks of residential drugs rehab. The Judge say: It is really important to keep out of trouble.

Spin-offs

The X Factor has long been a Saturday Night telly staple and, for many of us, auditions are the best part of the whole series. We, viewing public, get to find out someone's life story in 90 seconds and then judge them on their ability to belt out a bit of Celine Dion-whats not to love? This part of the competition always brings some unusual characters into the public eye, but have you ever wondered what happens when Mick from Hull gets four nos and heads back to his job AT Asda? Well, X Factor producers are apparently aiming to bring rejected contestants back to the small screen in a new spin-off. The Sun is reporting that Simon Cowell wants a new show to follow around acts that dont made it past auditions in the series alongside the original weekly show, where they'll compete against each other to be crowned 'biggest improver'. Chase presenter Bradley Walsh is said to be favourite to take up presenting duties for the show. ITV is yet to confirm the spin-off but were hoping this was nothing more than rumour. The main X Factor show is gladiatorial enough in offering vulnerable people as cannon fodder for viewers to laugh AT, so putting drop contestants together in one show just seems cruel.
